At the moment, I see EAR as the better option of the two, though I am buying both (EAR more aggressively though still patiently, MKO more when someone gets impatient and flogs - if im quick enough to get there before anyone else anyway).
Each company is equal in its importance to the other. MKO provides the plant, EAR will provide the resource (even though there is no resource yet, there will be, and soon once they compile all the historical data).
Now I have no idea when they are going to merge and which way its going to happen, ie EAR merges into MKO or vice versa. But when it does it will imho be a merger of equals, or as close as possible to it. Eg if EAR is 15c, and MKO is 5c and they merge EAR into MKO then it will be three MKO shares for each EAR share...or the other way around if merger happens the other way.
Course, Ruane could decide to just run each company separately and just toll treat the EAR ore. MKO gets toll fees, EAR gets production revenue without the capex. This is not the optimal approach imho though and would be disappointed if this is what occurs.
