Large short position to be covered, and while they have done well, they don't like to pay more than necessary and will manipulate a small company's share price like this to their ends.
Look at Shortman to get an idea of the daily volume that constitutes this "market massage". In other words, the market price is not the real market price, but a manipulated one.
Need to ignore the noise and focus on the fundamentals and intrinsic value. Too much of this stock manipulation in the small cap space these days...
