It makes perfect sense now. They couldn't do combine their stakes due to the 2/3 rule. They both had to sit below the threshold.... But now that a situation arises where they can have a larger stake in a defence of interests in admin they are essentially positioning against a defence against any creditors. Basically they are playing force majeure with the government... It will be interesting to see this unfold...
