Initially it caused some uncertainty and front-running/short-selling. Since the initial reaction the redemptions have been caused by the rotation from one ETF product to another, specifically relating to leveraged gold ETFs.
Your statement that they will be 'dumping their shares at any time up until June 16' is plainly wrong. They undertake buying and selling based on fund flows (as is always the case) but the pure rebalance (the real dump) can only take place on June 16. Read the prospectus of the ETFs.
