tradesido I understand the process of short selling. Maybe I didn't make it clear that I was asking about it in relation to subs. shareholder notices.
Thanks dynofish, that's kinda what I was thinking. So would I be correct in saying..
a) if I for example borrow 5% or more of a companies listed shares - does this make me a substantial shareholder?
and...
b) if a) is correct does that mean when I drift under 5% (via short sales) I am no longer a substantial shareholder?
and...
c) as I buy back stock to return to the lender I will become a substantial holder again when I go over 5% even though it's not my stock?
Just trying to get my head around it.
