I am not sure maths really works. Bring on GP to do more blood tests and just get a bigger machine and win on the economies of scale. Do twice as many eye operations, and you need twice as many surgeons - at the same costly outlay.
Centralise x-ray reporting and get a bigger machine and add some radiographers, and the same formula as pathology. Not sure where the growth is going to occur on the surgical side as there are only so many hours in the day.
