Re NST's involvement, read the relevant anns I would suggest.
The MD of Alchemy is a renowned geo who has also written research papers. I doubt that he would have been counselled by an extremely busy Bill Beament or anyone else on NST's behalf.
Karonie was simply available it seems and ALY snapped it up gratis!
The company had been looking for a long time for the right project/s.
