peejay; AAML (Aberdeen) ceased to be the external investment manager about a year ago. A team headed by David Sokulsky (ex Crestone) took over as an internal manager. Hence the change from ALR to CLF. Since then they seem to have done reasonably well, adding value over 3, 6 and 12 months. A bit hard to figure out whether Aberdeen did a god job or not. They've always paid a good dividend (currently 6c for the year) but the NTA hasn't moved much, being about 30c above what it was 20 years ago. A bit odd considering the company is geared.
As an aside, the company was originally Maxilink, which was part of the Equilink group founded by Brian Sherman and Laurence Freedman. Sherman is still the chairman of CLF.
