number is not too bad. Portfolio down 1.13% during month so assuming the announcement is total assets (not exactly clear this is "gross portfolio"):
start of month total assets of $358.2m
dividend paid of 6 cents which takes about .06*253m = -$15.2m (-4.24%)
dividend re-investment of $1.53 x 1.51m = +$2.3m (+0.6%)
options exercise of 1.6m @ 1.37 = +$2.2m (+0.4%)
end of month $358.2m - (1.13*358.2) = $354.2 (-1.13%)
So, if you disregard the dividend payout, the dividend reinvestment and the options exercise ALF made about 3.2% on the month with its share market activities. The NTA per share is different though because new shares issued at 10cent premium for dividend re-investment and at a 6 cent discount for option exercise. So NTA per share actually boosted slightly higher from the new share issues, but not as high as the benchmark.
Do your own calculation, the above is back of my envelope.
