Qantas has the inside running because it was affiliated with Brindabella.

Knowing something of the history of the Rex versus Qantas saga, and the shrewdness of the REX board, I think REX will leave it mostly to Qantas, for now.

Qantas has been very willing to run routes at a loss to squash its competition. I think I heard Alan Joyce accusing Virgin of that recently.

Anyway, the REX execs were in a huddle on Sunday. No announcements yet, but you can bet that REX will only dive in on its conditions. They will not do as Tony Sheldon said a few hours ago. Ie. just do it without regard for the economics (what a flip!))

ConnectJet is a contender too.
