I am hoping that the return from asset sales exceeds the current share price. Otherwise I would sell now.

The board's role is not to do the best for shareholders. The duty of a director is to "act in the best interest of the company".

It is this difference that often lets directors keep the gravy train going when shareholders would be better off if it were liquidated.
