I have no idea about the historical IP machinations to which you are referring. However, I would find it absolutely astounding if some mob who relinquished/transferred that IP are in a position to sit around licking their lips at the prospect of a windfall due to somebody else's success.

Firstly, I would have thought that information regarding such would have been required to be publicly released at the time. Secondly, even if that is not the case, I cannot imagine that such a possible scenario would have escaped CB's attention to detail.
