"However, there is still a question mark over the future of the company's Gibson Island fertiliser plant in Queensland because the company has been unable to secure a cheap supply of gas once the current contract expires next year.

This is personally disappointing for Fazzino who has been campaigning hard for Australian manufacturers to secure access to affordable energy."

And...

"Johns, who has a different style to the outspoken Fazzino, sounded less optimistic about securing a gas supply arrangement that can save Gibson Island than her predecessor did six months ago.

However, it is believed the company is still working on finding a solution. The current supply arrangement ends on September 30, next year.

If the company cannot secure "economically viable" gas after that date it is likely the facility will close.
Fazzino was a fan of the Queensland's gas reservation plans but that has so far failed to help Gibson Island and the 300 staff it employs directly either."
