The announcement made today provides the answer to your question:
Two UBS prime broking entities (UBS AG London Branch and UBS Securities LLC) have gone below substantial shareholder level, as they have returned stock to the loan pool.
UBS Securities Australia has being buying stock on behalf of one or more of its clients, and some 2.3 million shares were on 15 March 2017 returned to their initial owner(s).
In other words, this update reflects someone who has been short the stock, but has been covering those short positions.
As one might expect during a prospective takeover situation.
