The Peruvian government already agreed the Master Plan for Development of Geothermal Energy in Peru with International Cooperation Agency of Japan (JICA) and geothermal energy looks set to play very important role in Peru.
The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) has also authorized the exploration of geothermal resources in the regions of Arequipa and Cuzco to the company Hot Rock Peru SA.

In its efforts to support the geothermal development activities in Kenya, Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will support the Capacity Strengthening Program of Geothermal Development Company (GDC) with $18 million (Sh 1. 6 billion).
The announcement of this support came last week at the signing of the grant to GDC, by JICA’s industrial development and public policy director-general Hidetoshi Irigaki.
“This technical assistance will improve GDC’s capacity as well as enhance capacity to prepare economically and environmentally viable business plans,” said Mr Irigaki.
