Wait! I'm confused! I thought primary role of a Board was to care about business metrics!!!! The mantra of Boards I have worked with is something like "manage the business and the share price will follow". It would be naive to think that Boards don't spend energy on the share price per se but it is far from a primary focus.
btw! there are ASX rules that control when and how Directors can sell their shares! ... and prosecutions do happen! (think Gillman Wong at Sirtex!)
