I don't agree. Li batteries have a life of 10 years max, and capacity will more than likely have reduced to somewhere in the region of 60% of initial capacity by then assuming daily cycling (the plan for Kidston). Hydro power turbines last for a long time (the original snowy hydro scheme power stations are between 50 and 70 years old). More likely to compete with hydro would be technologies such as large scale flow batteries or, molten salt.
