Interesting discussion and hopefully the feasibility study will shed some light on potential profitability. Rail to the port for sure is an issue. At least there is rail line there to get started but it won't support longer term production rates required to make this a serious player. But it has potential to start small and grow.
I know for a fact that high quality bauxite in the hundreds of millions on tonnes in low risk locations is getting harder to find and the big alumina players are looking to replace current sources that will deplete over the next decade. I know this because I work for one. The point is we are focussing a lot on cost.... don't discount the revenue side of the equation as market forces can move this either way very fast.
