Fair comment. Despite the claims by certain trolls that HRE is being phased out the only evidence of that is in hybrid vehicles which themselves are being phased out. Up to recently Tesla was the only one I know not using permanent magnets in their vehicles but they have now changed their tune and using RE in their rotors . Probably because the other manufacturers have jumped on the EV wagon and are beginning to catch up producing lighter, more powerful synchronous AC motors using permanent magnets in the rotors.
Using HRE in magnets reduces weight and the amount of LRE required plus it increases the operating temperature. Maybe in 10-20 years Toyota may be able to produce a RE free motor equivalent in size , power and operating temperature to current RE motors but by then NTU would already be scrapping the bottom of its pits.
Vehicle manufacturers moving from hybrids to EV will require increasing amounts of RE including HRE and the usage of Dy in lights , military and laser applications is also on the increase. IMO we have already seen the bottom of the HRE market and they now starting to follow the LRE prices heading up.
