You are absolutely right, spruiking low or no demand when you have no idea does prove the level of naivety. Yes they do use very little but the current manufacturing of EVs is also very little at the moment. It may only be 50-100g per EV and up to 10 times that for each truck but multiply that by the millions of vehicles sold each year by car manufacturers and you'll get the picture.

Unlike Toyota the Nissan/Renault venture have been building real EVs like Leaf and Zoe for a few years now and have already cut the use of Dy by 40% or a whopping 40 gm
Now Toyota is playing catchup and is researching the reduction of expensive RE in EVs , over the next 10 years. Maybe they should just buy a Tesla or Leaf and try to reverse engineer it. LOL
