Looking at GXYs progress it seems they need to widen their holes to test flow rates.
The way I understood it, taking a core sample tells you the drainable porosity of the host material (ie how many litres of brine it can support per cubic meter of dirt), but to test flow rates you actually need to flow some substantial volume, and the friction loss from a skinny diamond hole would make that difficult.
See excerpt below from GXYs competent person. Am I on the wrong track?
