We are west of Mackay. Had 1296mm for December.
1010mm over 7 days. We on acreage in hill country. Access and roads effected. Had a effect like Toowoomba but had creek beds for bulk of water,not streets. Its going to be a very long and hard pickup for so many from Emerald out west of us to Rockhampton and many others west and south.
From Toowoomba to Brisbane and all in between.
Impress would IMO have been waiting for another year. Cooper Creek currently has flood warnings.
Re flooding general info..Shortage continues in supermarkets from Brisbane to Cairns. Mines are pumping out pits and discharging into creeks. 64 ships wait off Mackay. Not a good start at all. We have only had 60mm of rain for 2011 though. This latest drop was mostly south and west from Hervey Bay,Noosa, Sunshine Coast area and west. The total cost will be huge.
Thanks for your thoughts but it is to too many others who have been like Sir Eddie , given another body blow to dreams and hopes. Most will again rise above but at a cost.
And Wasa as you know, our yacht is in Nz, We intend to cruise the Sth Pacific later this year. The current weather patterns is likely to continue for the next three months. Its far from over, we have 2 Cat 1 cyclones active today. One in the Indian ocean tracking in to Exmouth. One in the South Pacific tracking to Noumea, New Caledonia.
