Richard had mentioned at the Melb IPO capital raising presentation I went to, that they where already "there about" in terms of the cost, because of the work CSIRO had already done, that Bio-Gene needed to produce Flavicide for, in discussions they had already been having with major chemical companies, for them to be able to incorporate it in current products, either with other actives or on it's own.
This release is great news as it suggests CSIRO feels they can further refine this cost curve.....ie. like eg. MABR re FLC....if they have a product that is best in field (no known insect resistance at present AND has already shown strong results insects resistant to other products) AND can be as cheap or nearly as cheap then it becomes a no brainer.
More companies will sign exclusivity agreements around their areas of use, like Virbac and cattle ticks, and do their own trials, like Virbac is spending money on (Bio-gene doesn't even have to throw any money in here, just supply product....that's how much potential Virbac feel it probably has). The Bio-gene side is completion of the toxicity studies and so far no issues....so now we just need to get through the monthly then yearly tox studies whilst others do they own studies and then we can start selling the stuff hand over fist. All the big chem companies will be sitting on these tox results.....once proven...who knows what value this will have, but it will be in the 100's of millions at this point.....as mentioned previously the last unique mode of action insecticide developed is now doing $1.8B revenue/yr..... This product has so many potential avenues between insecticide use for humans, crop protection, insecticide use for animals in Ag, use against pests in the domestic animal market then use against resistant mossies re Malaria and other viruses/parasites born by mossies. we await tox study updates and further agreements....,
kind regards, SEAH.
