You might want to read my AIO posting which came after yesterday's close. Not too far off the mark given what has been announced by BF today i.e., BF shooting for 50.1% to 100% of AIO. BF obviously has the financial clout to accomplish this because the original scheme of arrangement contemplated 100% anyway. Can the same be said of the QUB consortium? Maybe so then a bidding war ensues but I doubt this.
Note also that the date for voting on the scheme is being deferred. My guess is that BF doesn't wish to see the scheme defeated publicly.
The ACCC is beginning to loom as a decisive turning point in the battle. Will Rod S. of the ACCC, who has already redlined the acquisition with question marks, capitulate or stand his ground? I will have to recheck the timing but will the launch of the new BF takeover proposal precede the ACCC decision (possibly BF throwing money down the drain---what a waste) or will it be post ACCC?
Also in the mix is the question of whether the consortium wishes to risk owning a 19.9% minority parcel of shares whose marketability would be questionable after a completed and bedded deal? I would not think so but one never knows. That augurs in favour of taking the money and running.
The next moves is to the consortium. I wonder if a collective approach by both parties to the ACCC which addresses some of the ACCC's concerns would not be prudent but this could only come on the heels of an agreed collective position i.e., a negotiated agreement. We shall see. Cheers.
PS - Until the dust settles, My sentiment is to hold.
