It was a comment based around the fact that not many company's with a share price of 5c are actually generating revenue, there are some but it's a minority. This means that investors and traders who prefer to trade penny stocks over other stocks worth 50c for example, it puts LON in their scope. I know I prefer to trade smaller share price'd companies purely for the greatly increased number of shares I'm able to purchase with the same capital.
And I agree with you too, market cap and shares on issue all affect the individual share price, simple division
In regards to capital raising, you are right again, some can be very beneficial and strategic, however, I think at the end of the day it is important to realise the term "cap raise" holds an overall negative connotation whether it is required or not. The market is obviously composed of traders and investors alike, so it all comes down to the psychological element. Sometimes even if it is strategic and well-timed, if the market doesn't seem to take it very well it's probably best to make a decision to change sides and agree with the market instead of closing your eyes and hoping for the best.
