NRW’s Golding in line for $350m Baralaba coal contract in Queensland

NRW Holdings is in pole position to win a Queensland coal mining contract worth about $350 million.

The company said subsidiary Golding Contractors had a deal to do preliminary work at the Baralaba North project while negotiating a three-year contract.

The clients are Wonbindi Coal and Baralaba Coal. The mine is restarting operations after being put into care and maintenance in 2015.

The scope would include drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, and handling of coal through crushing and screenings.
NRW said if the negotiations were successful, the contract was expected to be finalised within 35 days.

“This is a great opportunity for Golding to add another full mine operation contract to its portfolio,” NRW managing director Jules Pemberton said.

NRW bought Golding last year for $85 million.

Its shares were up 7.5¢, or 4.7 per cent, to $1.675 at 10am.
