As far as my limited knowledge takes me, the higher end of C1 to C5 can be attributed to oil.

C1 Methane - small
C2 Ethane - small
C3 Propane - medium
C4 Butane - large
C5 Pentane - large Characteristics of oil

If the percentages of the higher hydrocarbons are present more significantly ie Butane and Pentane, more likely to be oil.

Methane, ethane and Propane more likely to be gas!

C4 Butane - small
C5 Pentane - small characteristics of gas
