I emailed management last night with the suggestion to include limited edition "gold" playmates and animals (perhaps 500 or so). There seems to already be high activity levels on the "Yowie Trading & Collectables" Facebook, with new posts popping up every few hours with people keen to get their hands on particular characters. I noticed one Gumtree ad with a 9 carat gold Boof, attempting to be sold for $3000. It was one of 50 made in the year 2000 when Yowie was Cadbury owned. It included a golden authentication ticket stating it was valued at $600. I can only imagine how much hype there was around these in those days.
The ultra rare Hulk disc in the Woolworths Marvel promotion is a perfect example of where rare collectables have an outsized impact- something we could replicate. Shiny Pokemon cards were another example of limited edition cards causing higher demand and hysteria.
I'll let you all know if/when I hear back.
