That is really odd. Thanks for posting it was the last thing I thought i would see posted.
Kmart have head office in Mulgrave Vic so they may use a local store to test products.?
One way for YOW to cut a price is to cut down on packaging but Yowie packaging is part of the bait and promotion to show series etc. Retail stores can save with less waste , quicker replenishment etc.
Problem may be Yowie packaging is important to protect damage to foils so would be interested if they have used a thicker foil etc? I know some retailers are moving towards generic cardboard tubs as promotions but there is a hell of risk of having a premium priced fragile Yowie product started off in a tub due to extra handling. You just have to watch night packers to understand why companies use protective packaging.
Be interested if that store actually has been used as a trial and now just getting rid of excess or if this is a test trial? Your mega purchase probably just biased the trial- well I hope so as Yowie needs volume.
Just had a contact check SKU in their system and it didn't come up.. I don't know if cloud is store based state based, updated live etc so not sure what to assume / think, If any one interstate or even in Melb wants to check take a empty wrapper to a different store and on the test scanner in a kmart see if it registers? Be interesting.
Is the SKU or is on receipt and listed as Yowie when it scanned ? Just interested as they may have it in system as promo , special or discounted confectionery or something.
Sorry for loading up questions but knowing retail systems and process it is throwing a few interesting questions and I bet you were surprised to see them unpackaged as I am to read about it .?.
