My Dad used to talk about the ‘bread and dripping’ days of the Great Depression.
His own Dad was a typesetter who luckily kept his job through the period. Through the formative teenage years Dad watched how people behaved and what they wanted.
He said they still wanted to go out and have a good time they just didn’t want to spend money.
He used the understanding to good effect by setting up a business later on that offered a free service to the client ..
Anyway I think the photo below says more about prohibition in the USA then economic depression related beer cravings
