As a footnote, I spoke to the CEO and asked why they took a 49% interest in Astin College. He explained that while not majority ownership, AKG does have a controlling number on the board. He went on to explain that while they see the potential in the business, at this stage they just want to get a better understanding of its performance.
As an aside, it was interesting to also learn from the CEO that AKG have been looking to enter the QLD market for some time and gladly took the opportunity to buy the DFL Education business. A big attraction being that students are mainly local, all according to the company.
