I wouldn't say that Cloud Pipes is a competitor to LiveTiles. Cloud Pipes focuses on integrating different applications for workflow - if anything they could partner. The most notable competitor to Cloud Pipes would be Nintex that was born out of OBS and split off (OBS being acquired by Empired since this). LiveTiles has partnered with Nintex. LiveTiles focuses on a digital workspace, for those that feel that this is just a buzzword - we all use several different applications throughout our day - be it SharePoint, or any other app.
LiveTiles is a centralised location to bring all these apps together, your home screen for the start of the day, surfacing news and your point of call for actions. This can be hosted in several different ways. LiveTiles also recently started leveraging the Bot Framework to deliver LiveTiles Bots which can answer questions and kick off workflows from Microsoft Flow, Nintex just for example. This 'helper' fits perfectly with a centralised work location.
I'm bullish for the future. I find the partnership with N3 to be interesting, hoping here that it pays off.
