i have noticed a lot of empty shelving in both woolies and coles down here,( bega). i think their aggressive treatment of suppliers may come back to bite them on the butt. more companies will sell direct to their own customers and remove the stranglehold. If i want a product and Coles or woolies are de-stocking for price control i will seek it elsewhere. I think the Aussie supermarkets have had their control over suppliers diminished by the net and peoples willingness to buy local or buy specific.
Asaleo have very popular and established brands that the consumer wants.I cant see the majority of them buying a 'similiar' brand because it has a W or a C on the packet..its all about trust imo.
