You don't think we should oversee the day-to-day operations and ramp-up a bit more closely? The appointment of an operations manager (or executive-director operations) seems appropriate at this stage of the company's development. You're right though, it is a generous salary package, so I'm sure there are big expectations on Mr Turner to deliver a profitable mining operation.
