Just like I had no idea why the stock traded up on the day it went ex-div, I am unable to add any value whatsoever as to why it gapped down 8% during the gap on 293 shares.

My long-held experience is that share prices can do some weird and wonderful things over the short-term, but ultimately they reflect the underlying performance of their respective companies.

So I try to focus all my thinking towards the businesses themselves, and the strategies pursued by their managers, and I let the computers trade merrily with one another, secure in the knowledge that they have no impact on the intrinsic value of the company.
