I've come across Pointerra just recently after a search for a point cloud hosting solution for my survey firm. Having made a comparison between a number of similar services, I can't see a significant enough value proposition for me to sign up as a customer.

When you consider the cheaper (and even free) alternatives for sourcing & publishing 3D point data on the web, Pointerra doesn't come close to being competitive. Especially when comparing against open source solutions such as Potree and the FSDF, which has publicly available free Lidar for almost all of Australias population centres.

At this price point it costs more than most of our other mission critical software, yet it can't nearly be described as such.

Can anyone recommend Pointerra as a customer?
