How quickly we have gone from a disruptive technology not unlike the LCD was to the CRT, to now looking at ‘acceptable quality’ and associated semantics.

Also, for that definition to apply this would have to be a consumer level product, which it isn’t nor was it ever going to be. The chip is meant to be integrated into other devices, ie. televisions. Considering TV’s already have rubbish speakers, it won’t be difficult (or will it?) for AKP’s chip to meet the average joe’s consumer expectations.
