Going back to the Perth Wave Energy Project (PWEP), I can vaguely remember that they were to be paid for both power and freshwater when it was complete. In reality, it never reached completion but morphed into the Garden Island Microgrid Project.
I would think the same arrangement that applied to PWEP will apply to GIMP.
Over time, with the addition of further capacity in wave energy, solar and desalination, it should be a substantial earner.
As for how they get payment for battery storage, I think that is yet to be determined (across the industry as a whole).
I recall MO explaining that payment from D of D was waived for PWEP during the demonstration period because of the exceptionally good deal that Carnegie got from having the project on Federally owned land?
