the below statement by Dr Guido Arnout, gives you insight as how the first iteration was a success as it allows 4DS to achieve its goal faster than anticipated.

"imec and 4DS have learnt to rapidly identify necessary modifications in order to de-risk the latter development cycles which we plan to undertake. A major benefit of this early identification is that we can accelerate the whole collaboration process.”

The 4DS forum will end soon, we will be sold before the iterations are completed. 

JD has already mentioned he is in talks with major players the day they entered with IMEC.

Western Digital may also not renew the partnership as it signs the acquisition deal with JD.
