Serena you obviously dont read the ASX announcements. The buy back wasn't re-activated yesterday as you claim it has been in force the whole time and will be for a period of 12 months but as management stated they would use it selectively as they see fit. Obviously yesterday with the sudden dump of 3.5m shares they saw the opportunity to buy alot more shares at a cheaper price and in doing so not only supported the SP but took more shares from the very weak hands. IMO this is a very smart move by the directors and much more effective than having a general buy back of everything on market like you want which would quickly deplete the funds set aside for the buy back and likely only entice more selling as the seller will know they have a base price. Maybe that style would suit day traders like yourself but for us long termers I am pleased that management are using the buy back this way as in the long term it is much better use of the companies funds as they can take many more shares off the market.
