Share buybacks are a good idea when a company has money and there shares are undervalued. Using debt to buyback overpriced shares is a big no no. So, to answer your question, does MOD as an explorer have extra/spare money- probably not. Any spare loot they need for drilling. Taking on debt with no revenue doesn't bode well...
