How do these work . As a top level exec you are part of a team that contributes to a massive fall in the share price . Then you get given huge amounts of shares that vest at certain levels on the way back up at prices lower than the share price was before this debacle . I know the directors and senior management team aren't entirely to blame however I think it's sometimes beneficial for them to have the share price low when receiving these performance based incentives . I admit I don't fully understand them so maybe my perception Is wrong .
This is also off topic but somewhat related . I was looking at another mining services company the other day ( nrw or code nwh) they have also been savaged . The md gets a $1900000 salary and has just cut it by half . What gets me is the companies market cap is only 20 odd million . It amazes me these people still get such large remuneration for failure .
