Actually, from a 3rd party perspective, I can see why it might be in their interest to request this option.
Assigning a 3rd party for contingent collections of your debt with an option to buy, is a smart way to allow a 3rd party to see see a full sample of the tranche before committing to buy.
This is possibly just a new way in the industry to try before you buy, so to speak.
