Well, to discern the message clearly you first need to understand it properly.

This isn't at all a case of 3 directors buying.

One director has merely been issued with free performance rights for nil consideration.
Another has actually SOLD shares to the value of $1.44m
And the one director that has indeed bought shares on-market spent a paltry $30k doing so

This board has been far too keen to acquiesce to the CEO's rabid acquisition appetite without the requisite level of oversight, to my way of thinking.

The result has been some ill-considered acquisitions and some ordinary financial outcomes.

And this buyback appears to me to be more geared towards protecting the share price than targeting a more optimal capital structure.
