Yeah companies just lodge the announcement, the ASX solely determines whether they mark it as price sensitive. As I've said before, while some of their assertions to 'price sensitivity' are pretty fanciful, they do appear to carry their mistakes across all companies, so at least they're consistent. A price-sensitive label on an announcement gets no input from CCE or any other company.
This is a good announcement, and it appears the company is trying to keep the market informed, even if it necessarily means they have to tell us some things we already know.
They've even given us a realistic milestone, a bit harsh to be bagging the company for missing milestones, then bag them for setting a conservative one.
For me, I see the announcement as an the start of exciting phase. Indeed, it's the most important phase in the company's history. They not only have the place, the timeline and the funds to get a commercial CETO unit in the water and producing power, they have millions of dollars worth of research nouse from across multiple disciplines sciencing that sh!t out of drawing power from a wave and ironing out CETO's creases, and 2 years in which to perfect it. I have little doubt that the decision to call the milestone at the point they have is at least a partial combination of wanting at all costs to avoid a shareholder revolt over missing another milestone (as the predominantly retail ranks have been quite unforgiving), and wanting to give themselves and their new research friends a good two years to collect data and enhance the unit before deployment.
That's all pretty exciting from where I'm sitting. The material benefit from spending an extra year or two to perfect a first-mover tech of global significance can't be overstated. Add to that the likelihood that a progressive government will step in within 18 months and right the renewable ship, and the slim possibility that they could form a majority with a sneaky by-election win much sooner, and we have a lot going for us. My main curiosity now turns to what they will make of the EMC subsidiary. They have many fingers in pies, it would be nice if they can pull out a plum on the end of one of them
