I've been a way over the last few weeks and have just finished reading the presentation and yep ozwire you've hit the nail on the head. It can't be done. not those volumes and certainly not from one machine. I think we can all move on from the prospectus now. They have given up on "sheets" of paper from banana to compete against wood based pulp and paper. It can't be done. Isn't that was patented?

We can probably move on from the idea of banana veneer too because it is too slow (3,000sqm/year v machines that can slice or peel sustainable plantation timber at that rate per hour)?????? Forget it.

Pallets from banana fibre??? Forget it. Take a look on the web and check out all the paper based pallets that every paper company somewhere in the world tries to flog off. These are made from recycled paper (cheap) but how many have you ever seen versus Chep, Loscam or the humble standard pallet. The only reason why the banana processor might be interested in a banana based pallet is if he can get it for free or at the very least cheaper than a wooden pallet.

By the way there is plenty of planation grown wood growing in central america. Especially costa rica where there are huge banana plantations too. Non old growth rainforest wood is plentiful and there is quite a bit of cheap wood available for pallet making??

Why would PPY now start banging on about patent infringements? No-one appears to be able to make the veneers at a rate any faster than PPY (otherwise) it would be well and truly into the market by now. Is it just part of a bravado act to say that they really have something worth protecting? Or have they found someone that is producing at a comparatively "scary" rate.

My heart goes out to the poor woman that has contributed $500,000 in PPY shares. If it's true then she is either a very charitable and trusting person or she has some inside knowledge. Either way after all the announcements and ballyhoo the share price appears to be heading in its usual "tragic"-tory, south!
