If you were serious about the stock market you wouldn't be expecting that someone would buy a stock without thoroughly studying what is being bought and you wouldn't be asking the question you ask.
E.g. once I've filtered the stocks in the market down to a manageable list it can take around 25 hours or so of study and observation per stock (plus or minus a bit). Re: AGL. I've been studying AGL (among others) and watching it for a month now and only just bought in today once I was satisfied as to it's value to me and how it fits my portfolio as a whole.
