Yes, shareholders can oppose the deal. That doesn't include me at the moment. I'm waiting to see how it plays out.
Did anybody else find the Chairman's and MD's addresses spectacularly irritating?
First of all, what's the point in all this smug, self-congratulating talk about the wonderful, glowing future the company has? WHEN YOU'RE SELLING IT!!! Not only is it seriously pointless, it's like telling us how delicious the lasagna is that you've cooked and are going to give to somebody else.
Secondly, the point about the share price being at a 7-year high is completely spurious when it's the management's behaviour that has inhibited share price growth in the first place. The reason the price has started to show some growth now is that finally the management is letting the company trade and produce some return on investment. And again... as soon as we poor, patient, long-suffering suckers start to see a glimmer of promise in the company... THEY'RE SELLING IT!!!
I'm glad Nicoli is going... he's a M&A adrenalin junkie. His departure is a factor I'm taking into account as I consider when (and whether) I'll buy back in.
