If you look at Serra Pelada, the black orebody sits in metasediments that have been cut by shear zones that have probably served as conduits for the gold bleeding off the diorite (equivalent to gabbro) body nearby.

So I'm thinking that what we could have at Tres Estados is the gabbro intrusive "source rock" equivalent to the diorite at Serra Pelada.
