Normally he supergene will have formed at the water table interface level lower down, so it still does leave the way open that the current surface samples being assayed are from the depleted zone above the supergene. If that's the case, should be some bonanza hits lower down from the drilling campaign.

Last time I checked fresh gabbro was a fresh rock.

"A 150kg surface bulk sample of fresh gabbro, identical in appearance to the Três Estados gabbro has been collected from the Ema prospect"

It's an erosional regolith regime, so no supergene.
